Thanksgiving
On Thursday 26 Nov at 20:00 in room 4 Nila talked about Thanksgiving, its origins and traditions. She very effectively explained what Americans celebrate on Thanksgiving and how they celebrate it. Students told her that they had heard about it in the movies but did not know the history. We would like to thank Nila for the great job she did.
Thanksgiving Ppt Black Friday and the 'Net Generation' Retailers hope for hordes of shoppers on Black Friday, the traditional day of buying fever after Thanksgiving. On Forum, they focused on what appeals to tweens and teens and why and how they buy.
On Monday 23 Nov at 5.00 pm in Room 4 Ally O'Brien talked about travelling and teaching English in many countries round the world and also about Toastmasters International. She then explained and gave effective tips on how to write a simple but effective speech, with student participation.

Palma Nova's 21st annual Christmas concert was held at San Lorenzo Church, Palma Nova. We sang traditional carols and other popular music supplied by Austrias No 1, Leo J Klein, Iain Duncan, Joe Dennis, and Nicky Stixx. Jim Wallace told us two wonderful Christmas stories that took us back in time.
Doreen Reeves from The Euro Weekly took some pictures and sent them to us to publish on this blog. We would like to thank her for that. You can read her very well-written articles every Thursday. You can get a free copy at our school.
After the concert the traditional Mulled wine was provided by Barry and Maureen.
Singer Nicky Stixx and Writer Suzanne Meikeljohn at the EOI On Wednesday 18 Nov at 19:00 in Room 13 singer Nicky Stixx and writer Suzy Meikeljohn came to talk to us about their amazing projects. Nicky is involved in many different projects in the performing arts on the island. She sings every Saturday at the Café Bar Cantó. You can follow Nicky on Facebook to find out more. Suzy writes for Mallorca Life & Style Magazine and The Majorca Daily Bulletin. Suzy is going to the Arctic for a good cause. From Med to Sled is Suzy's challenge for the Willow Foundation. You can attend the events and see who her sponsors are. Nicky and Suzy organized a fabulous Christmas party on 12 Dec at Café Bar Cantó. It started around 19:30. Everybody had lots of fun. There were mince pies, mulled wine, turkey with cranberry sauce...and great music. We would like to thank them for giving us a wonderful evening.
Remember that every Saturday morning there is a Flea market in Son Bugadellas, where you can find plenty of books in English. Libraries
Our school has got a library. You can borrow readers, Speak Up magazines and videos.
Our local libraries also have materials in English. You can visit the Bendinat branch or the Magaluf branch and see if they have what you are looking for. You can find some of the books from our reading lists there. For example The Catcher in the Rye. Other books may be found in the general catalogue.
If you go to the Magaluf branch, ask the librarian, to show you the room where they keep all the books in English. They have real treasures there. They also have DVDs for learning English and Films in English.
English Radio Mallorca came to our school to celebrate Bonfire Night Laura Penn andTerry Mott from English Radio Mallorca came to our school on Fri 6th Nov to talk to our students about Guy Fawkes and Bonfire Night. They gave us some tips on how we could celebrate it at the Mallorca Cricket Club on Sat 7 Nov. They also talked about their projects on the island, what working at a radio station is like,and they also told us some anecdotes. When: 6 Nov at 5:00

We would like to thank Laura and Terry for having paid us a visit and for the wonderful job they did. The students enjoyed listening to them. We are very lucky to have such good professionals on the island.

Come and join English Radio Mallorca on stage with great music and entertainers at the Mallorca Cricket Club. BBQ, Pie & Peas, Toffee Apples, Chocolate Fountain, Hog Roast and more. Two bonfires and a great firework display. Entrance fee 5 euros with kids under 14 free. Doors open at 6pm.

"I'm afraid I have a problem with tomorrow, as much it upsets me, letting people down, I'm sorry to say that my little boy Luke, is very poorly, we have spent the entire morning at the hospital, they have sent us home without an underlined conclusion, but he is not good at all, therefore, I will have to re-schedule my attendance for another day.
I am exceedingly sorry to let you down at such short notice, but my duties as a mother always come first.
I hope you understand and look forward to re arranging another date.
